Clean Energy Program, continued

Renew 2000

Renew 2000 is a collaborative effort convened by Northwest Environmental Advocates with the region's utilities, energy marketers, and others to educate electrical consumers about the environmental consequences of electricity generation and the benefits of renewable resources. Nationally, power generation creates more than 20 percent of all heavy metals and over 30 percent of all carbon dioxide emissions, yet over 50 percent of the region's residents believe there are no major environmental consequences to energy production. Renew 2000 will raise public awareness about this link, build broad-based support for renewables, empower people to choose energy sources, and influence utilities and energy marketers to include renewables.
